Rise of 17%* in Hire Car Bookings Up Despite Difficult Summer says Carrentals.co.uk

14 September 2010 – British citizens are set on having a good time and a break despite current economic troubles. The major online Car rental player Carrentals.co.uk has just reported a 17% increase in hire car bookings for October (half term) compared to the 2009 statistics for the same period.

The recession has bumped up car hire prices. Carrentals.co.uk researched this, but discovered an increase in booking despite the average daily hire price increase of about 9% over a 12-month period. It seems banks are no longer as keen to hand out credit, and so Rental companies are not getting as much flexibility. Causing their fleet sizes to reduce in growth, as new cars usually require credit – hence, lower availability and constant demand increases the price.

July and August of 2009 and 2010 churned out these results, showing that there is always a demand for car hire . Vehicles can be booked for a massive range of countries and cities; dream trips like Vancouver and Barbados, or closer to home like Pisa, Nice and Faro.

“The travel industry has taken a beating from the economy. However, despite recent hurdles, the British traveller won’t give up easily. There isn’t as much cash floating around as before, so deals need to be found; budget car hire is available, but the deals need to be unearthed. People should research their choices, compare all quotes, contact the top five companies and jump on the best offer.” Advised M.D, Gareth Robinson, for Carrentals.co.uk.

“To have the most choices, travellers need to plan ahead. Communicating with companies in advance will secure the cheapest rentals and often means a larger range of vehicles are still untaken.” Gareth continues: “If you need a car for this October, especially the half term, then expect to pay more than last year. Deals, however, can still be found by looking into nearby areas for lower prices. Research small towns, cities and unsung areas; rentals there will be cheaper than in prime locations.”

Get car hire in Faro only £12** a day, from £13** daily in Crete or from £16** a day when in Rome. £10** a day is the cheapest from the car hire Malaga Airport has available in the main terminal.

Carrentals.co.uk looks into the 50 largest car rental companies, providing users with deals from Europe, Sixt, easyCar, Auto, Budget, Holiday Autos and Alamo. These companies have hire cars across an impressive 9,000 locations. Hence, customers of Carrentals.co.uk get the top deals.
