People with Mobility Difficulties Can Receive Specialized Adaptive Equipment at Reduced Cost

The Mobility Resource HELPS FIND financial assistance For Adaptive Equipment

November 08, 2010 – As the leading resource for adaptive mobility equipment, The Mobility Resource recognizes that purchasing a specialized vehicle with the necessary accessories can be expensive. For this reason The Mobility Resource works with General Motors to help people with disabilities equip their vehicles for safer, easier travel. Through the GM Mobility Reimbursement Program, consumers who install or reinstall adaptive mobility equipment on their new General Motors vehicles can receive financial assistance to cover related expenses. Participating GM divisions include Chevrolet Buick and GMC.

With this program, customers can enjoy up to $1,000 reimbursement of the cost of eligible adaptive equipment. This includes accessories such as lowered floor van adaptations, hand controls, scooter lifts, turning automotive seats, wheelchair lifts. Most new GM vehicles whether leased or owned are covered by this mobility assistance financial program. This makes it possible for people with disabilities to enjoy additional freedom of vehicle mobility while saving on the cost of the necessary equipment.

In addition, GM offers two extra years of standard OnStar service, at no additional cost on all 2010–2011 Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles equipped with OnStar. Directions & Connections Plan is standard for six months on most 2011 GM vehicles. The Safe & Sound Plan is standard for one year on many remaining 2010 GM vehicles. (Offer excludes reimbursement for safety belt extenders.) That's a retail value of $400 or more.

Having OnStar is like traveling with a trusted companion, ready to help you in virtually any situation. OnStar is available on more than 50 GM cars, vans, trucks and SUVs. The OnStar system offers extra help and security for individuals with mobility difficulties who travel by vehicle. Combined with the specialized adaptive equipment, OnStar is a necessity for any mobility modified vehicle.

On the company’s website, customers can browse through the various options to learn more about which model best fits a specific wheelchair or scooter. Customers can also find local dealers in the Mobility Resource’s network of licensed dealers. The dealers offer everything from wheelchair vans, under-vehicle lifts that can be neatly stowed away under the car to standard dual-post lifts that are meant for heavier wheelchairs or scooters. In addition, The Mobility Resource offers several different models of tuning car seats that allow passengers to access their seat without the hassle of climbing in and out of the vehicle.
