A fresh new talent has just released his debut album entitled The Nature of Light, which contains 7 instrumental pieces written to express the nature of space and time.

Says Lea Each piece tells a story about some event taking place somewhere out in the vastness of space, and our perception of those events. Some of the tracks are very uplifting whilst others create a darker more sinister feel.

It’s certainly true to say that Atherton’s music is complex and at times challenging, yet astonishingly beautiful, both traits which reflect the subject matter written about. It seems a fitting homage to the mysteries of space.

The Nature of Light was entirely conceived, created and produced by one man. Even the cover art is designed and painted by 37 year old Lea Atherton. A musical hermit obsessively stubborn about controlling every aspect of his music? Probably. And that’s exactly the kind of music people should be listening to.

From the rich synthetic swell of the opener Leaving Planet Earth, you know this is something out of the ordinary. The dying art of good old-fashioned composition craft is the name of the game here, and Atherton is clearly a master of it…

His website contains samples of each of the tracks, and the CD is available along with downloads.

Not only is the site a vehicle for his music, it also indicates a great sense of humor and curiosity about the world in which we live.

Those who enjoy the works of Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre or Brian Eno would find much here to get their teeth into.
